First, we recommend that you go to one of their Info Sessions to know the details firsthand. We’ve posted about their Info Sessions and it’s schedule here.

Everything that’s stated here are from their Info Session late of 2014. If there are details here that needs to be updated, please let us know on the comments section.

As far as we know, here’s how you become an Uber Partner.

Step 1: Create Partner Profile

Go to https://partners.uber.com/drive/  and  choose the city you want to drive in (i.e. “Manila, Metro Manila, Philippines”).

Select your Vehicle Type: UberX or UberBlack. Check this post describing the difference.

You’ll be taken to this page. Fill in the required fields. During registration, you can use our Uber Partner Invite Code: qpkmy.

Step 2: Register your Banking Details

In your dashboard, click on the “Banking” menu and you will be taken to another page (https://vault.uber.com)

Important Notes:

  • Make sure the name you register is the exact name of the bank account you’re trying to enroll
  • the Uber partner (account holder) and the name on the registered bank account does NOT need to be the same
  • For Bank SWIFT/BIN Code, refer to this link.

Step 3: Enroll a Driver

You’ll need the following details about your driver/s: Driver Name, Cellphone Number, Email Address, Username and Password (you’ll create these) . You can add several drivers including yourself, if you know the limit on the number of vehicles you can enroll, please share with us in the comments.

Requirements:

  1. Professional Driver’s License  + OR
  2. NBI Clearance

Step 4: Enroll a Vehicle

In the dashboard, you need to add a vehicle and indicate these details about your vehicle: model, make, year, color of interior and exterior. Then, upload the required  documents as follows:

  1. Proof of Vehicle Registration: LTO Registration/ ORCR/ Sales Invoice
  2. Proof of Insurance: Comprehensive or TPL
  3.  Four (4) Pictures of your vehicle: Front External View (License/CS visible), Rear External View (License/CS visible), Inside View Dashboard Console and Inside View Backseat

Important Notes:

  • Make sure the documents are valid and not expired, expiration date is correct and documents are clearly seen
  • Model of the vehicle has to be 3 years old or newer upon application (ex. If you’re applying 2016, the car has to be 2013 or newer)
  • You must bring this vehicle in for review by Uber before driving. You can add multiple vehicles, if you know the limit on the number of vehicles you can enroll, let us know in the comments below.
  • The name on the Proof of Registration and Proof of Insurance has to be the SAME
  • The name of the Uber Partner (account holder) and the name on the Proof of Registration and Insurance does NOT need to be the same
  • Uber will deduct a Passenger Accident Insurance on your first pay out. This is Php 165 per passenger per year. This depends on the passenger capacity of your vehicle. Sample computation 5 seats (4 passenger + 1 driver) x Php 165 = Php 825 per year.

Step 5: Driver On-Boarding/ Orientation

Once you’ve completed the requirements, you can go to Uber’s office at 11/F SM Aura Tower, BGC for the Driver Orientation. The schedule is every day from Monday to Friday at 10am which usually takes 1-1.5 hours.

After this, Uber will do a background check and results will be released via e-mail after 7 business days.

Once background check is cleared, the mobile device will be issued to you–no CASH OR DEPOSIT needed from you!

Viola! You can go online and drive immediately.

Important Notes:

  • You need to bring the vehicle for physical inspection
  • You can go for Driver On-Boarding as soon as you’ve uploaded all the requirements above. No need to wait for the document status to be “Active”.
  • Releasing of the mobile device can take up to 7 days and NO CASH DEPOSIT will be collected. We’ve heard some Uber partners are asking some money/cashout from other people wanting to get a vehicle signed up.

Please let us know if there are details that need to be updated in this post, everyone will greatly appreciate your contribution!

If you still have questions, you can contact us or comment on this post. We’ll try our best to give you the most accurate information.

Update: Here’s our more detailed post on how to sign up as an Uber Partner/Driver. Ride on!

Basics: How to switch cards during payment

We’ve told you how to enroll additional credit cards in your Uber account in this post and we also gave you a tip on how you can turn on/off your Uber credits in another post.

600credits

This post, we’ll cover how to switch/change your card for payment. This is also covered in detail in this post about turning off your Uber credits. Basic steps are just the same.

NOTE: You can only do this BEFORE you request for a ride so make sure you switch before confirming that “REQUEST uberX” button.

Step 1: Open Uber app and click the next button. In the next screen, click on the payment panel showing your source account and credits.

WARNING: DO NOT click on “REQUEST uberX” yet. Once you confirm your request, you won’t be able to change the payment account.

Step 2: Click on the account you want to use and turn off your credits, if any as seen below.

turn-on-off-2 turn-on-off-3

Note: Even if you change the account and you don’t turn off your credits, Uber will still credit your Uber credits first. So, make sure you turn the credits off if you don’t want to use it.

Step 3: Click back and you’ll return to the request page. Double check if the changes are reflected in the payment panel before you confirm “REQUEST”.

Tips: How to turn on/off Uber credits

By default, Uber will credit your Uber credits first before it credits your other accounts; given you still have credits. In case you want to reserve your Uber credits for your personal trips, you can choose to “turn off” or not use your Uber credits. This post will show you how.

600credits

Step 1: Before you request for a ride, click on the payment panel (see the highlighted panel below)

turn-on-off-1 turn-on-off

Step 2: You can toggle on/off your credits as shown below. You can also change the source account for payments.

turn-on-off-2 turn-on-off-3

Step 3: Once you go back to the “REQUEST Uber” page, you should see that the payments panel has reflected the changes you made. Different payment account and credits turned off. Then you can proceed to request for your ride.

turn-on-off-4

NOTE: There is no other way to turn on/off your Uber Credits and switch between your payment accounts. Hence, remember to do this BEFORE finalizing a request. Once a request done, you cannot change the payment options.

Happy Riding!

Tips: How to request for an Uber ride even without mobile data

What if you don’t have mobile data but you still want to use Uber?

No problem!

SIGN UP 600

You just need to have an internet connection (via WiFi or other network connections possible) while requesting for the ride. Once you’ve booked your ride and the Uber is arriving, you can disconnect from the connection and wait for the ride at the pick-up point you selected.

NOTE: Before you disconnect from the network, take note of the driver’s name, plate number and the model/make of the car. You can screenshot the screen so you can access these information from your picture gallery. Also, take note of the estimated arrival time and be sure you’re at the pick-up point when the car arrives.

Basics: How to enroll additional cards for Uber Payments

There may be times when you’d want to pay for your trip using another card.  For example, it’s an official trip you’d want to charge to your company card instead of your personal card.600credits

So as promised, here’s a guide on how to enroll another card in Uber. You can do this through your web dashboard or through the app.

In the web dashboard, go to the Payments sections. You can easily input the details of your new card and click “Save”. I’m not sure if there’s a limit as to how many cards you can add. If you know, please share with us in the comments below.

You can do the same through the Uber app. Just go to the main menu and go to “PAYMENT”. In the upper right corner you can see the add card button. Simply input your new card details and save.

We’ll cover in another post how to switch your payment modes and turn your credits on/off when requesting for a ride. If you have a specific topic in mind you need help with or any post suggestions, let us know!
